About me
My name is Annfreda (Ann) Corsar. I am a counsellor, specialising in Integrative counselling and mental wellbeing support. I am also a qualified Mental Health Practitioner (RMN), having over 14 years of mental health nursing practice within services such as Addictions, Adult and Older people (acute), Primary care community mental health, Psychology services, Third sector and Employability services. I am a registered member of a number of regulatory bodies including the Association of Holistic and Complementary Practitioners (AHCP), British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Nursing and Midwifery council (NMC). Reflections Counselling Services (RCS) was created following a recognition and appreciation that everyone (including myself), at various times in our lives, needs support. We all need a safe space to talk, cry, explore difficult/distressing feelings and thoughts, laugh and most importantly, learn to manage and/or resolve our psychological/mental health and wellbeing concerns. RCS provides counselling and mental wellbeing support for individuals (and groups) who are looking to explore and gain a deeper understanding of their psychological/mental wellbeing problems or concerns, as they work towards personal and meaningful recovery.
My practice draws upon knowledge and practice of a combination of therapeutic approaches, extensive clinical nursing experience, and knowledge of mental health illness, and with this, I provide counselling services that are tailored to your individual needs as you define and explore your current psychological and mental health problems. In addition to facilitating free exploration of your past and current psychological problems, sessions will also focus on helping you to develop and grow emotional resilience, as well as achieve desired aspirations (and recovery goals). Perhaps you are looking for a safe space in which you can talk to an empathic listening ear, as you try to figure things; or are looking for encouragement, validation or practical ways of dealing with your current circumstances; I can assure you that during our one-to-one contact, we can explore the problems that you are experiencing at a pace that you are comfortable with. Any treatment and/or support interventions we agree upon and implement will focus on you as an individual and what you can do, not on your condition or disability. I believe that each and every person can work towards achieving meaningful recovery given the correct conditions. That said, the counselling therapy and mental wellbeing support I offer, aims to foster a client-therapist professional relationship that is governed by honesty and accountability, a non-judgmental attitude and a full acceptance of your unique circumstances.
